MIS Ceramic Composite Implant Drills |

MIS has introduced a ceramic composite (Zirconium / Yttrium / Aluminium) drills in 2.0 mm, 2.1 mm and 2.8 mm diameter. They reportedly feature reduced vibration and smoother operation. One important property that Zirconium drills claim over stainless-steel drills is that they maintain their sharp edge for an extended period.

consult our disclaimer.I have used the 2.0 mm MIS pilot drill for about 12 surgeries so far and I have to say the cutting action is very smooth, with minimal vibration and no `torque stutter` commonly seen with stainless steel drills. The patients seem to experience no pressure or vibration and seems to allow me to make a smooth and accurate initial osteotomy. My only criticism would be that the depth gauge markers are starting to fade. I recently ordered the 2.8mm drill, unfortunately they don`t have any larger diameter drills, but according to Moti (US salesperson), these are in the works.
